On the occasion of the 2026 4 Hours of Le Castellet, Richard Dean, co-founder of United Autosports, officially confirmed to Hugues de Chaunac, President of the ORECA Group, the acquisition of the ORECA 09, the future LMP2 car homologated for the 2028-2032 period.

Since switching to the ORECA 07 chassis in 2019, the team founded by Richard Dean and Zak Brown has built one of the most impressive LMP2 records in recent years, including two victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2020 and 2024, the FIA WEC LMP2 World Championship title in 2019–2020, the ELMS LMP2 Championship title in 2020, a win at the 2025 Rolex 24 at Daytona, as well as a historic 1–2 finish at the 2026 12 Hours of Sebring, in IMSA.

This confirmation underlines the strength of the long-standing relationship between the two organisations and the confidence placed in the next-generation LMP2, whose design and development programme is currently underway within ORECA Motorsport.

Designed to meet the growing demands of the category and the high expectations of customer teams, this new prototype will benefit from all the experience accumulated by the French manufacturer since its earliest years in prototype racing. Like its predecessors, it will be designed to win, combining performance and reliability, continuing a legacy that has made ORECA the global benchmark in LMP2.

Beyond its historic commitment to the LMP2 category, ORECA Motorsport now plays a major role within the Endurance racing ecosystem and ACO championships.

ORECA Motorsport is involved in all three categories competing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans: in Hypercar, through the design and development of major LMDh programmes; in LMP2, as a chassis manufacturer; and in GT, through the assembly and customer support of the Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo.

This cross-category involvement highlights ORECA Motorsport’s ability to support manufacturers, teams and championships over the long term, while actively contributing to the growth and appeal of Endurance racing.

Hugues de Chaunac, ORECA Group President:

“I couldn’t be happier today as United Autosports renews its trust in ORECA with a clear ambition: to win, you need the best teams, the best drivers and the best car. I’m also delighted to see such a strong and clear future for the LMP2 category from 2028 onwards. By then, many ORECA chassis will certainly be on the grid, but United Autosports will have the privilege of running the very first one.”

Richard Dean, United Autosports CEO & Team Principal:

“It’s great to be extending our partnership with ORECA through to 2032 as we transition to the new 09 chassis. Our longstanding relationship with the entire ORECA team, is backed by a proven track record – two Le Mans victories, the Daytona 24 Hours last year and more recently our first IMSA one-two at the 12 Hours of Sebring, as well as many championship titles just to name a few. This year marks the eighth consecutive year United Autosports have fielded the ORECA 07 LMP2 across multiple championships and I firmly believe the ORECA 07 to be one of, if not the most successful race car designs of recent history.  We are excited to continue making unforgettable memories together with Oreca Motorsport and the next generation LMP2 car.”
