This afternoon saw the SIGNATECH-NISSAN team take part in the single 15-minute qualifying session at the Sebring international circuit, as stipulated by the sporting regulations of the FIA WORLD ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP. Franck Mailleux set the 4th fastest time, with a lap of 1’52”084, during a session which was disrupted by a red flag, reducing the session to just one clear lap for the LMP2 competitors. PhilippeSinault’s team nevertheless placed the nr 23 ORECA 03 – NISSAN on the second row of the LMP2 starting grid.

Tomorrow, the crew of Mailleux, Tresson and Lombard is counting on a good performance during the sixtieth anniversary edition of the 12 Hours of Sebring.

After a week of joint tests for all the competitors entered in the 12 Hours of Sebring and in the FIA WORLD ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP, the SIGNATECH-NISSAN team claimed fourth position on the starting grid for the first event of the 2012 season, which promises to be of high quality.

The nature of the track, the traffic and the red flags will be major factors throughout the twelve-hour race.

“Since the start of the week we have mainly worked on the endurance, as this is the second-longest race of the season. We also worked on the driver changeovers with our new trio, as well as on the tyre wear on this atypical track. Here, the drivers who finish will be real survivors. You have to get through a number of problems, and cope with the traffic. With 63 cars on track, it will be quite a challenge. “

Franck Mailleux : ” I AM QUITE CALM ”

” Throughout all this week’s tests, we concentrated on working with the tyres and the pit stops. We needed to focus on performance during the qualifying, but a car went off and the session was red-flagged, reducing the practice to three laps, with just one fast lap. Tomorrow, we have the warm-up to do the final tests before the start. But I am quite calm, we have a homogenous package, both in technical and personnel terms, and if all goes well, we should do well in the race. “
