The massive success of the 2023 3XFestival held 29 June-1 July at the Palais des Sports in Marseilles has inspired an even more thrilling 2024 edition thanks to a partnership with the French Federation of Basketball.

A rousing success in 2023

The city of Marseilles was abuzz at the end of June 2023 as it hosted the very first edition of the 3XFestival! The event drew more than 4,500 excited spectators and 80 professional 3×3 basketball players destined for 36 epic matches.

More than a dozen indoor and outdoor activities provided an immersive experience dedicated to urban culture during the festival. Social media exploded with 2.6 million visitors while 2.9 million viewers followed the matches live on the L’Equipe channel and Skweek.tv.

Three major facets for 2024

The 3XFestival will return to Marseilles on 29 May-1 June 2024 (subject to FIBA validation) for four days celebrating 3×3 basketball. This partnership with the FFBB promises an even more grand-scale and exceptional second edition!

Two Sporting Events in One | The two most prestigious international 3×3 basketball competitions, the FIBA World Tour and the FIBA Women’s Series, will group nearly 100 athletes from 14 different countries in 24 teams for 38 intense matches.

Naturally, the top French players will participate, as well as the world vice champion French women’s team preparing for the Olympic Games.

3×3 Basketball: True Heart of the Event | The involvement of the FFBB, key partner of the festival, will result in several amateur tournaments ahead of FIBA competitions. The venue has much to offer fans, including multiple courts accessible to the public during the entire four days of competition.

Marseille: The Capital of 3×3 Basketball in 2024 | The festival will be held in the storied city of Marseille on the Parc Chanot esplanades from 29 May-1 June 2024, attracting as many as 10,000 people and further marking the city’s status as the capital of 3×3 basketball. The event is naturally aligned with Marseille’s culture of encouraging and establishing basketball courts in local neighborhoods.

Like this year, numerous partners will bring the 3XFestival village to life, adding a fun and friendly atmosphere as well as a dynamic and engaging environment for visitors, spectators and enthusiasts.

Raphaël de Chaunac, ORECA Group Vice President: The ORECA Events teams were proud of mounting such a successful first edition of the 3XFestival this year, and in record time! Tackling the challenge of creating a 3×3 basketball event and seeing it not only come to life in Marseilles, but also captivate thousands of fans, was an exceptional experience. But, our adventure has only just begun! We and the FFBB are driven by a deep, mutual commitment to surpass expectations and make the 2024 3XFestival an even bigger and more exhilarating event. We are geared up to write a new chapter together underscoring sporting excellence and memorable shared experiences!

Jean-Pierre Siutat, FFBB President: We are ecstatic to join ORECA in organizing the 3XFestival. Our 3×3 development plan in France is focused on Marseilles and the creation or renovation of basketball courts, in addition to this event component in partnership with ORECA. The 3XFestival is an outstanding promotional platform for local 3×3 basketball and also facilitates hosting two international FIBA tournaments.

Samia Ghali, Deputy Major of the City of Marseilles: After the incredible success of the first edition of the 3XFestival with the FIBA World Tour and FIBA Women’s Series, Marseilles has become a key destination for this Olympic discipline. The city is thrilled to serve as the venue for the second edition and to host the greatest basket 3×3 international teams as well as an amateur tournament showcasing many highly talented local players.
