Ford Performance joins forces with ORECA Motorsport for Hypercar

As part of the Le Mans 24 Hours, on 13 June 2025 Ford confirmed a technical partnership with ORECA Motorsport to design and develop its future LMDh prototype. This ambitious project will mark the American carmaker’s return to the highest level of the discipline in the head category of the 2027 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC): Hypercar.

With four overall wins at the race between 1966 and 1969 to its credit, Ford has considered a return to the forefront of the discipline for some time. To meet this technological and sporting challenge, the American giant has chosen to rely on the expertise of ORECA Motorsport, a global leader in the design and development of endurance racing prototypes.

Based on an ORECA chassis, Ford’s LMDh prototype will integrate an engine developed by Ford Performance and the standard Bosch hybrid system defined by the LMDh regulations

This major undertaking led by Ford Performance will benefit from close collaboration between Ford and ORECA engineers. Both companies share the goal of developing a high-performance, innovative and reliable prototype conceived to win the top endurance races in the world.
