Through the racing seasons, the Formula Le Mans has become an unmissable next step in the endurance racing ladder.  A required passage for drivers and teams hoping to one day participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in a prototype.  There’s no shortage of success stories.  Mathias Bèche, runner-up in FLM, is currently shining in LMP2, where he took two wins in 2011: the 1000km of Spa and the 6 Hours of Estoril.  Dominik Kraihamer, after two seasons, has also tasted success in LMP2: twice he reached the podium in the Le Mans Series and had the fastest race lap in the 24 Hours of Le Mans while driving for Team ORECA-Matmut.  The 2010 champion, Andrea Barlesi contested the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup in prototypes.  And finally, Boutsen Energy Racing competed for two seasons in Formula Le Mans before entering in LMP2 and garnering several podium finishes.

Great rewards to be had…
In 2012, Formula Le Mans confirms itself as the class to be in to discover the world of endurance racing.  In addition to five events of 6 hours, held within the frame of the European Le Mans Series, the teams have the chance to run on the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit during the Test Day.  It’s a perfect occasion to learn the characteristics of such a unique track.  And the champions will be rewarded as they should be.  Drivers’ champions will be offered a 45,000 Euro bonus and a test in an LMP2.  The Teams’ champion will be given an invitation for the 2013 Le Mans 24 Hours, in the LMP2 class.

Test it !
ORECA is offering drivers and teams the unique opportunity to discover the world of endurance racing.  On the 1st and 2nd of February, on the Paul Ricard HTTT circuit, drivers will have the chance to test a Formula Le Mans.  In doing so, they will be getting behind the wheel of a true Le Mans Prototype on the Castellet track, site of the first round of the European Le Mans Series in 2012.  During these two days, several teams will be present, running either in LMP2, with the ORECA 03, or in Formula Le Mans, with the ORECA-FLM09.  Drivers who flew the Team ORECA-Matmut colors in 2011 will also be on-hand to assist the drivers in their discovery.

Add these dates to your calendar and join the 50 or so drivers who will be testing, for real, the Formula Le Mans.
