Hyundai Motorsport teams up with ORECA Motorsport for Genesis brand’s Hypercar debut

Hyundai Group premium brand Genesis has officially confirmed entering the Hypercar category next year, having announced a technical partnership between ORECA Motorsport and Hyundai Motorsport for the design and development of its LMDh prototype.

In accordance with the LMDh category regulations, which apply to the FIA WEC Championship organised by the ACO and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, manufacturers must use a homologated ‘spine’ to which they integrate their engine as well as the Bosch hybrid system supplied to all cars.

For its debut in the endurance racing’s top class, Hyundai Motorsport has opted for an ORECA chassis, with an ambitious programme including the FIA WEC from 2026, followed by the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. With this strategic collaboration, Genesis Magma Racing will benefit from ORECA’s experience in endurance racing.

To get ready for its debut in the Hypercar category, Genesis Magma Racing will team up with IDEC Sport in 2025. The operations team will thus get to train and strengthen its experience with an ORECA 07 entered in the LMP2 class as part of the European Le Mans Series.

ORECA Group President Hugues de Chaunac:

“We’re very proud to have been chosen by Genesis and Hyundai to design the prototype that will mark their entry into the Hypercar category. This ambitious project stands as a key stage in the development of the South Korean premium brand and we’re honoured to get to support them in this strategic challenge.

This partnership yet again strengthens ORECA’s position as a key player in the endurance racing’s top class – three major manufacturers have now put their trust in ORECA. We’ll make sure that this project benefits from all of our experience.

I’d like to thank Hyundai Motor Group Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke and Hyundai Motorsport President Cyril Abiteboul for trusting us and for allowing ORECA to support one of the world’s most prestigious brands.

Our engineers have already started working and the first stages of development suggest that the prototype will live up to our shared ambitions.”
