After the Road America race this past weekend, drivers Pato O’Ward and James French have earned the title in the Prototype Challenge class of the IMSA Weather Tech Sportscar Championship. At the picturesque Elkhart Lake circuit – James French’s home playing field – the two Performance Tech Motorsport drivers clinched their seventh win of the season at the wheel of the ORECA FLM09, thereby definitively taking the lead in the overall standings of the PC class.

Given its remarkable journey this season, the Floridian team only needs one more point between now and the finale at Petit Le Mans to claim the Teams crown in the championship. For the race, the two future champions will be joined by Kyle Masson.

Having dominated the class since the beginning of the season, accumulating lap records and pole positions on top of victories with Pato O’Ward and James French, the Performance Tech Motorsport team truly outperformed the competition to reach the goal it set itself early in the season. A win at Petit Le Mans would fashion a veritable Grand Slam after the wins at Daytona, Sebring and Watkins Glen. These achievements could very well give rise to new ambitions for next season, but for now the new champions are focusing on savoring their success with the ORECA FLM09 in the North American endurance flagship series.
