After a night of several surprise twist and turns, the battle continues in LMP2 between Inter Europol Competition’s #43 ORECA 07 and VDS Panis Racing’s #48. The two cars are followed by IDEC SPORT Racing’s #28 ORECA 07 as the final stretch of the race looms.
LMP2
The nighttime stretch of the 93rd 24 Hours did little to affect the provisional standings. Inter Europol Competition’s #43 ORECA 07 (Jakub Smiechowski, Tom Dillmann, Nick Yelloly) and VDS Panis Racing’s #48 (Oliver Gray, Estéban Masson, Franck Perera) reign at the head of the LMP2 category. The two driver line-ups are currently engaged in a marathon battle, the outcome of which is fully up in the air.
In P3, IDEC SPORT Racing’s #28 ORECA 07 (Paul Lafargue, Job van Uitert, Sébastian Alvarez) is holding fast to the dream of claiming a category win. At the wheel of Iron Lynx-Proton’s #9 ORECA 07, Jonas Ried, Maceo Capietto and Reshad de Gerus are looking to secure a podium finish after the final eight hours.
Fifth overall, AO by TF’s #199 ORECA 07 (PJ Hyett, Dane Cameron, Louis Delétraz) is leading Pro-Am trailed by Inter Europol Competition’s #34 ORECA 07 and AF Corse’s #183.
Several cars were forced to retire before daybreak. Among them, Nielsen Racing’s #24 driven by Naveen Rao, Cem Bolukbasi and Colin Braun was the first, then approximately 10 minutes later IDEC SPORT Racing’s #18 shared by Mathys Jaubert, André Lotterer and Jamie Chadwick called it a day.
HYPERCAR
Alpine gained a few positions during the night. The #36 (Frédéric Makowiecki, Mick Schumacher, Jules Gounon) is currently in P13 and the #35 (Ferdinand Habsburg, Paul-Loup Chatin, Charles Milesi) is in 15th. The French constructor may still make it into the top 10 at the chequered flag.
LMGT3
After 16 hours, Vista AF Corse’s #21 Ferrari 296 LMGT3 is still in second place. François Hériau, Simon Mann and Alessio Rovera deftly navigated nighttime conditions to pursue their hopes for victory. Richard Mille AF Corse’s #150 of Lilou Wadoux, Custodio Toledo and Riccardo Agostini is in the top 10.
