Chinese team Jackie Chan DC Racing by Jota Sport, which at the moment is competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship with two ORECA 07s, has announced its participation in the 17/18 season of the Asian Le Mans Series. To race at its best in the four rounds of the competition, the current leader of the world championship has opted for two ORECA 05s.

A strong presence in LM P2 in Asia

The LM P2 class has gradually developed in Asia. The seven cars confirmed for the upcoming season constitute a record of entries in the main class. The Jackie Chan DC Racing by Jota Sport has been participating in the Asian Le Mans Series since 2013, and missed the victory, last year, in the final straight. While the squad was then at the very top of the championship’s rankings, unfortunately its car was not able to complete the last race following on a contact with another contender, and all title hopes vanished.

With two ORECA 05s, straight out of the workshops in Signes (France), the team is now hungry for revenge. With a double win in LM P2 and an overall podium at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year, with its ORECA 07s, the England-based structure has been successful several times already this year, which bodes well for the rest of the season.

“The Asian Le Mans Series is a true plateform for young drivers, offering them real opportunities to show their potential in Asia and abroad”, Driver and Director of Jackie Chan DC Racing by Jota Sport David Cheng explains. “That’s what we’re trying to do as a team. We’ve developed and learnt in Asia, and we’re now looking to expand internationally in order to become a key player in our discipline.”

“We’re glad to see the Jackie Chan DC Racing by Jota Sport confirming its entries in the Asian Le Mans Series with two ORECA chassis in LM P2”, ORECA Group Vice-President Raphaël de Chaunac notes. “Asia is important to us, ORECA has been present there for many years. Yet it’ll be the first time that an ORECA 05 shows up on the starting grid of the Asian Le Mans Series. It’s a real satisfaction. This entry confirms the ongoing and consistent development of our activities in Asia, through successful events that we’ve organised, as well as with our new office in Shanghai, in addition to the one in Hong Kong.”

17/18 Asian Le Mans Series Schedule:

October 27th-29th: Zhubai (China)
December 1st-3rd: Fuji (Japan)
January 11th-13th: Buriram (Thailand)
February 2nd-4th: Sepang (Malaysia)
