After a thrilling battle against the #38 ORECA 07 from Jota Sport, the #37 from Jackie Chan Dc Racing passed the checkered flag with 1”894 lead and won the final race of season 8 of the FIA World Endurance Championship, signing his first success of this campaign.
In the heat of Bahrain, the French Gabriel Aubry was the strongest! After an intense fight, he was able to stand up to defending Formula E champion Antonio Felix Da Costa, resident of Team Jota Sport. While the fight lasted for several hours, the knockout came with just a few minutes remaining when Gabriel found an opening and surprised Antonio for a decisive pass. Despite a touch, he took the reins of the race and gave Jackie Chan Dc Racing, as well as his teammates, Ho-Pin Tung and Will Stevens, a superb victory.

For its part, Racing Team Nederland, led by Frits van Eerd, Giedo van der Garde and Nyck de Vries, delivered a solid performance and reached the third step of the podium. The Dutch trio held third place in the championship until a few laps before the finish… and Aubry’s passing, which is therefore all the more decisive.

Titled even before facing the final race of the season, United Autosports experienced an eventful race between a spin and a 5-second penalty imposed on Filipe Albuquerque for stamping the ORECA 07 of Jackie Chan Dc Racing at the entrance to the pit lane.

Finally, for its last appearance in the LMP2 class, the Alpine A470 / Signatech-Alpine finished in the fifth position.

“Season 8 of the FIA WEC ended with an interesting race with, as always, some great duels on the track. Bahrain is never an easy round with particular track conditions. The reliability was at the rendezvous for the ORECA 07s and the teams and pilots put on a good show. This final is also a beautiful image of what LMP2 is: promising young people who assert themselves against benchmark drivers, but also gentlemen drivers who are doing well. The context of this end of The season was special, but we had the opportunity to continue racing and we must underline the quality of the organization of the ACO, the FIA and LMEM in this context. As such, Bahrain was also a special event for Gérard Neveu who worked a lot for endurance. We are already looking towards 2021 with good news and new commitments to come.“ Anthony Megevand, Customer Racing Service Manager
