Le Mans, Qualifying 1 : DragonSpeed on provisional pole!
At the end of the two hours of the first qualifying session, Pastor Maldonado at the wheel of the ORECA 07 DragonSpeed #31 set the fastest time in 3: 26.804. The Colombian places the American Team in provisional pole position of the LMP2 category of the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2019.
At the end of the four hours of free practice that launched the 87th edition, five ORECA chassis managed to hang the top of the table. #48 Idec Sport Racing topped with a time of 3: 28.363, followed by #31 DragonSpeed, #26 G-Drive Racing, #39 Graff Racing and #36 Signatech Alpine Matmut. In LMP1, the Rebellion #3 piloted by Thomas Laurent, Nathanaël Berthon and Gustavo Menezes is in third position.
After a short break, the twelve ORECA 07 chassis set off on the track at 10 pm. Quickly, the DragonSpeed #31 seized the head with a time of 3: 26.804 despite a collision with the Toyota #7 at the end of the session. Alpine #36 from Signatech Alpine Matmut finished in second position followed by Ligier #22 and ORECA 07 #48 of Idec Sport Racing.
In LMP1, #3 Rebellion finished in third place with a time of 3: 19.603.
The second and third qualifying sessions will be held Thursday from 7 pm to 9 pm and from 10 pm to midnight.
