From Daytona, ORECA Groupe President Hugues de Chaunac and Technical Director David Floury commented on the ACO and IMSA’s joint statement about the establishment of a global platform aimed at enabling LMDh to participate in the IMSA as well as the WEC.

Hugues de Chaunac: The announcement regarding the global platform is obviously excellent news for endurance racing. This is a historic moment and we applaud the ACO and the IMSA for such an initiative. It opens up exciting opportunities for everyone, the marques and constructors, the teams and drivers, as well as the fans. This also applies to LMP2 competitors, involved in a real and long-term strategic vision that combines sporting, technical and economic aspects. Everyone is ready to get to work. It’s the beginning of an adventure we’ve only dreamed about that is now a reality.

David Floury: Bravo to the teams at the ACO and the IMSA for establishing this global platform which represents a special time in the history of our discipline: the same car will have the opportunity to compete to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans (WEC), the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring (IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship)! It is all very exciting: at the sporting level with the range of possibilities afforded by the numerous races and championships, from a technical point of view with the integration of the hybrid, financially with the cost reduction and even aesthetically with the look of the cars. We are now going into project mode with the goal of capitalizing on ORECA’s experience in LMP1, LMP2 and LMDh.”
