United Autosports tops the timesheet at Test Day for the 2022 24 Hours of Le Mans
On Sunday 5 June, the traditional Test Day officially kicked off the 90th 24 Hours of Le Mans. 26 ORECA 07s and one Alpine A480 took the track for the first time from 09:00 to 13:00, then again from 14:00 to 18:00. Teams took advantage of the eight hours of track time to fine-tune their cars and set their marks at the circuit in preparation for the big race on 11-12 June.
During the first half of the day, JOTA Sport’s #38 ORECA 07 proved fastest with a time of 3:33.964. Roberto González, António Félix da Costa and William Stevens beat out the United Autosports team’s #22 ORECA 07 (3:34.111). TDS Racing x Vaillante (3:34.132) made it into the top 3, scoring the lead in Pro/Am, and Inter Europol Competition and Team Penske rounded out the top 5. In Hypercar, the Alpine A480 shared by Nicolas Lapierre, André Negrão and Matthieu Vaxivière finished in the fifth spot.
Classification test day – morning.
In the afternoon, United Autosports’ #22 ORECA 07 improved its time to 3:32.099 just 40 minutes from the end of Test Day ahead of JOTA’s #38 (3:32.382) and the United Autosports sister car, the #23 (3:32.879). Realteam by WRT and IDEC Sport Racing finished fourth and fifth, respectively. In Pro/Am, TDS Racing x Vaillante, eighth overall, pulled off a one-two trailed by DKR Engineering and AF Corse. The Alpine A480 brought up the rear in the Hypercar class.

Teams will now review data collected ahead of the first free practice session coming up on Wednesday from 14:00 to 17:00.
