United Autosports on top at Test Day
Following two days of Scrutineering in the Le Mans city centre, competitors in the 2025 Le Mans 24 Hours finally hit the track on Sunday morning for Test Day. The drivers in the 93rd running took advantage of two sessions (10:00-13:00 and 15:30-18:30) to set their marks while rookies familiarised themselves with the legendary circuit six days ahead of the main event (14-15 June).
LMP2
Seventeen ORECA 07s will compete in the LMP2 category at the 93rd Le Mans 24 Hours. United Autosports flawlessly defended its crown with the #22 ORECA 07 22 topping the overall timesheet. Renger van der Zande/Pietro Fittipaldi/David Heinemeier Hansson clocked the fastest time of 03:35.77.
After finishing in the top 5 in the morning session, TDS Racing’s #29 ORECA 07 clinched P2 in the afternoon. Rodrigo Sales/Mathias Beche/Clément Novalak trailed the leader by a stunning 0.455 seconds and reached first place in Pro-Am.
2024 pole-sitter AO by TF rounded out the top 3 with the #199 ORECA 07. Team regulars PJ Hyett and Louis Delétraz are joined by Dane Cameron this year.
Inter Europol Competition’s #43 ORECA 07 shared by Jakub Smiechowski/Tom Dillmann/Nick Yelloly made it to the top 5 in both Test Day sessions, but the team’s #34 sister car suffered a setback after an incident in the morning. Toward the end of the afternoon, Proton Competition’s #11 also left the track, and AF Corse’s #183 ORECA 07 driven by François Perrodo/Matthieu Vaxivière/António Félix da Costa) took fifth place.
HYPERCAR
For the second year in a row, Alpine Endurance Team is taking the start in the head category at the Le Mans 24 Hours. Hot off a successful early season in the FIA WEC, the French constructor is looking to lead the charge in Hypercar.
The #36 Alpine driven by Mick Schumacher/Frédéric Makowiecki/Jules Gounon clocked a time of 03:27.313, just 1:067 behind the leading Toyota, a promising result for the French constructor. The #35 Alpine of Paul-Loup Chatin/Charles Milesi/Ferdinand Habsburg finished in the top 10, trailing the sister car by less than half a second.
LMGT3
Built in the ORECA workshops at Signes, the Ferrari 296 LMGT3s are out in force at the 2025 Le Mans 24 Hours. No less than five entrants representing the Italian icon will battle for victory in the category reserved for GT3s.
Three Ferraris slipped into the top 5 this morning with Vista AF Corses’s #21 shared by François Hériau/Simon Mann/Alessio Rovera taking the second spot. Kessel Racing’s #57 of Takeshi Kimura/Daniel Serra/Casper Stevenson) followed immediately behind and Vista AF Corse’s #54 driven by Thomas Flohr/Francesco Castellacci/Davide Rigon ended Test Day in fifth place.
