United Autosports continues its harvest of victories

With a flawless performance throughout the weekend, the United Autosports team sees the #22 ORECA 07 wins the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, with a second consecutive European Le Mans Series victory this season.

The 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps will have plenty of surprises in store between the heat, the intervention of three safety cars and intermittent rain! After a 100% United Autosports front row after qualifying and a startled by the British team, the first hour of the race was dominated by G-Drive Racing. It was Filipe Albuquerque at the wheel of the #22 ORECA 07 of United Autosports who took the lead in the second hour, just a handful of seconds ahead of Roman Rusinov in the #26.

While the G-drive Racing team could hope to win, following an excellent stint from Mikkel Jensen, and put an end to the series of the #22 of United Autosports, a wet track exit at 55 minutes of the finish, dashed all hopes of victory. Faster than the rest of the grid, Filipe Albuquerque and Phil Hanson crossed the finish line almost a minute ahead of their opponents.

Second place was the scene of a magnificent fight between three French teams: Graff Racing, Panis Racing and Duqueine Team. It was finally Thomas Laurent of Graff Racing who resisted the attacks and climbed to the second step of the podium, ahead of Will Stevens of Panis Racing. Duqueine Team’s Tristan Gommendy took third place on the last lap before spinning a few meters from the finish with a flat tire. He still secured fourth place, ahead of the # 32 ORECA 07 of United Autosports, delayed by a stop & go, after contact with a GTE. Note the solid performance of Richard Mille Racing, whose women’s Calderon / Visser duo, accompanied by André Negrao, finished sixth, ahead of the defending IDEC Sport Racing Champions.
