Eleven ORECA 07s took the track for the fifth round of the 2023 FIA WEC at Monza known as the legendary Temple of Speed. After six hours of racing punctuated with dust-ups and neutralisations, David Heinemeier Hansson, Pietro Fittipaldi and Oliver Rasmussen claimed the top step on the podium for the first time this season at the wheel of JOTA Sport’s #28 ORECA 07.

Having started from second position, the #28 ORECA 07 held a top spot throughout the race, fighting valiantly against its rivals to clinch its first victory of the year!

Alpine Elf Team’s strategy paid off for the #36 ORECA 07, trailing the winners by 36.22 seconds for its first podium finish of the season, an excellent follow-up to the fourth place earned at the 24 Hours of Le Mans Centenary last month.

Pole-sitter and frequent race leader, Team WRT’s #41 ORECA 07 snatched third place from the United Autosports team’s #23 in the final lap. Le Mans winners Inter Europol Competition rounded out the top 5.

The #22 of United Autosports, #63 of Prema Racing, #35 of Alpine Elf Team and #9 of Prema Racing completed the classification.

Unfortunately, Team WRT’s #31 was forced to retire with engine troubles in the last 30 minutes of the race while in the lead, and Prema Racing’s #9 incurred a one-minute penalty after pushing Vector Sport’s #10.

After a well-earned break, the competitors will reunite on 10 September in Fuji for the penultimate round on the 2023 FIA WEC calendar.
