Our experience to make
your project a success
Originally created as a racing team in 1973, ORECA became a racing car constructor in 2008, after buying Courage Compétition. The Group therefore added another function to its resume, continuing a steady growth since its inception. This activity started out with the design and concept of cars for a single-make series – Formula Le Mans –as well as a car likely to notch up a victory in Le Mans’ main class, the ORECA 01 LM P1. In a couple of years only, ORECA has already become a reference amongst international manufacturers, particularly in LM P2..
Linked to several big makes thanks to its many years in competition, ORECA is a unique manufacturer. Within ORECA Technolgy, the manufacturer department gathers all the necessary qualities for the design, development and construction of a winning car : a design bureau with multiple functions, world-class tools and workshops… and a culture of winning without equal.
This is what makes ORECA different. ORECA is a team and a constructor at once. Those two activities, often very different, are also complimentary and beneficial to each other. As a racing team, ORECA has tasted success in some of the most renowned races : 24 Hours of Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This experience in the field, at the highest level, helps our customer teams today in LM P2, with whom we share our expertise and know-how. Who else can better help a team to win than one that has already been succesful ?
Today, four ORECA models have been built in the Signes-based workshops. The ORECA-FLM 09 is a prototype that runs in America in a single-make class called Prototype Challenge. Since 2009, more than 30 Formula Le Mans have been produced. The ORECA 01, which has competed for two seasons in the endurance racing’s top class, finished twice as the top private prototype at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and took victory in the 1000km of Silverstone, which proves of its performance and reliability. Its little sister, the ORECA 03, competes in the LMP2 class, restricted by a price ceiling on both chassis and engine. Since early 2011, 24 of these prototypes have been assembled in the Signes workshops. Its new version, the ORECA 03R, took over in 2014. Both prototypes have garnered 23 wins so far, on all circuits.
Finally, the newest one, the ORECA 05, made its debut in competition in April 2015. And what a start! After a first success in Imola as part of the ELMS, the car won the 24 Hours of Le Mans three months only after its first shakedown. A first historic win in La Sarthe for ORECA as constructor!
Future prospects promise to be enthralling. Indeed, ORECA has been selected by the ACO, FIA and IMSA to become one of the four official manufacturers entitled to supply the LM P2 class in Europe, Asia and Northern America.
